#5 "My illness made me a superhuman in exchange" Featuring professional martial artist Hideki "Shrek / Big Body" Sekine
Hideki “Shrek / Big Body” Sekine is still active at the forefront of the professional martial artist world at the age of 48, having participated in and won the RIZIN martial arts event held on New Year’s Eve 2021. He had a pituitary adenoma, a condition that causes terminal hypertrophy of the jaw and limbs, but he debuted as a martial artist while working as a police officer.
His body suddenly began to transform as he entered his thirties. He left the condition until his life was in danger in order to become a superhuman. He traded his illness for the super strong body he had longed for as a child.
He left his stable job as a police officer to become a martial artist at the age of 43.His wife’s determination pushed him to throw himself into the harsh world.What “gift” did he acquire through his illness?

Sekine debuted as a martial artist at the age of 36, while still an active police officer. He retired from the police force at age 43 and became a professional martial artist.
