(Japan)
“It’s an honor to be involved in a project where everyone is working together to create one thing, regardless of their nationality or persona!” - Reika Nema, BOTAN member (Source)
BOTAN reunites with DAZZLE to bring the best of modern dance to THE CONCERT 2022 stage! The last time they collaborated was in 2018 for the True Colors Festival – Asia Pacific Celebration of Artistes with Disabilities concert presented by The Nippon Foundation and UNESCO.
BOTAN
Formed in 2018, this 6-member dance unit comprises dancers with disabilities. The group gets its name from the peony flower, which symbolizes the synergy between members when each contributes their individual talents to create a better whole. Each member is an accomplished soloist, having performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021 and starring in TV commercials and movies.
DAZZLE
Dance company DAZZLE produces highly original work in a style that fuses contemporary and street dance. Their representative piece, hana to otori or Misty Mansion, has won numerous awards at local and international theater festivals and events.
The company has participated in prominent international festivals such as the Sibiu International Theatre Festival, the third largest global theater and performing arts festival, the Fajr International Theater Festival and the Astana Expo in Kazakhstan.
DAZZLE currently advocates immersive theater, believing that theater can be appreciated by all regardless of differences. They choreographed and staged Japan’s first immersive theater performance, Venus of TOKYO, which ran for 10 months.
