Open call for the True Colors DANCE ILL-Abilities Dance Workshop

We will host a workshop in Tokyo by ILL-Abilities – a breakdance team consisting of multi-national dancers with disabilities. With their experience of competing with dancers from around the world, ILL-Abilities will work with each student’s ability and skillsets to achieve expression through the body. Additionally, through working in groups, new possibilities will be explored and students will challenge limits that they thought could not be overcome.
We hope that people of all abilities interested in communicating with others through the experience of dance will partake in this workshop.

Teacher Biography

ILL-Abilities

ILL-Abilities™ was created in 2007 by Montreal-based dancer/motivational speaker Luca “Lazylegz” Patuelli, ILL-Abilities™ to show the world that anything is possible. It’s an international breakdance crew comprised of eight dancers (bboy/breakers) from around the world. The crew gets its name from the standard in hip-hop culture of using a negative term to refer to something positive. The “ill” in ILL-Abilities™ refers to incredible, amazing, intricate, talent. Rather than seeing the negative limitations of “disability”, this crew focuses on their positive, or “ill”, abilities.
