Raul Midón: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

Raul Midón is a one-man orchestra, creating and playing larger than life jazz pieces that engulf you and draw you into his world. Regarded as a “syncopated wonder”, Midón plays all the bass and harmonies that accompany his melodic lines which stay true to his experience as a blind man. To hype up the crowd, Midón turns to his improvisational mouth-horn technique that never fails to get audiences on their feet.

Described as “an eclectic adventurist” by People Magazine, Raul has collaborated with many musical heroes like Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers, while also contributing to recordings by Queen Latifah, Snoop Dogg and the soundtrack to Spike Lee’s She Hate Me. His studio albums Bad Ass and Blind and If You Really Want earned him two back-to-back Grammy nominations in 2017 and 2018 in the Best Jazz Vocal Category. His next album is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2022.
